Remove Green Screen from Video

Tip: click anywhere on the preview to sample that color as the key color.

Taking a green screen out of video is the same idea as with a photo, just repeated on every frame. This tool processes each frame in your browser and exports either a transparent WebM (if your browser supports alpha video) or a PNG-sequence zip you can re-assemble in any editor.

Video keying is the photo process repeated on every frame — source clip becomes a stack of transparent frames.

Steps

  1. Drop your green-screen clip above (the Video tab is already selected).
  2. Keep the green key color and adjust Similarity threshold so the background goes transparent while your subject stays.
  3. Pick an export format: Transparent WebM for a single file, or PNG sequence (.zip) for maximum compatibility.
  4. Hit Process, then Download.

Same chroma-key pipeline as a still: isolate the color, build the matte, remove it, composite.
Diagram: transparent WebM is one alpha file; PNG sequence is one PNG per frame at 30fps in a zip
Transparent WebM = one alpha file for modern editors; PNG sequence = one PNG per frame at 30fps for any editor.

Diagram: the four controls — key color, similarity threshold, edge shrink, edge smoothing — and what each does
The four knobs still apply to video: key color, similarity threshold, edge shrink (eats the fringe), edge smoothing (softens the matte).

Tips

Diagram: colored halo fix is raise edge shrink; chewed hair fix is lower shrink and raise smoothing
For video: a touch more Edge shrink cleans spill on moving hair; keep Edge smoothing low to avoid a shimmering edge.
