Tip: click anywhere on the preview to sample that color as the key color.
On a still image, removing the green screen means turning that solid backdrop transparent and saving a transparent PNG — your subject cut out cleanly, ready to drop onto any background. This tool does it right here in your browser; the photo never leaves your device.
How to remove green screen from an image
- Open the image. Drop a green-screen photo above, or click browse. The preview shows it the moment it loads.
- Set the key color and threshold. Keep the green preset, then move Similarity threshold until the background disappears but your subject stays sharp. Edge shrink removes the green fringe; Edge smoothing softens the cut-out edge.
- Export as transparent PNG. Because it's an image, there's no format choice to make — you simply get a clean cut-out PNG.
Image or video?
A single photo becomes a transparent PNG above. If your source is actually a clip, switch to the Video tab — that path exports a transparent WebM or a PNG-sequence zip instead.
Tips for a clean cut-out
- If a green halo remains, nudge Edge shrink up by 1–2 px.
- If fine detail (hair, fur) gets chewed away, lower Edge shrink and raise Edge smoothing.
- Shoot against even, well-lit green and you'll need almost no cleanup. Click the preview to sample any color if the backdrop is slightly uneven.
Common questions
Are my images uploaded?
No. All processing runs in your browser; we never receive your photos.
What if the edge still has a green tint?
Our tool builds the transparency mask but does not desaturate semi-transparent pixels, so a very faint tint can linger on soft edges. Raising Edge shrink is the quickest fix.
